This leaves the monthly competition and overall competition looking slightly different from last week. After winning his first weekly award James Meredith has stolen top spot from Linda Linge with a now 100+ point lead on 1718 points. Linda will have to settle for second place with 1607 points and Will Sansom is up into the top 3 with 1591 points. James will be able to claim a non alcoholic drink from the bar to celebrate his weekly win.

The Players competition has had quite a few high scorers this week. Eric Linge once again topped the table after burgling another 6 wickets and picking up himself 221 points for the weekend. Connor Coppard marked his return to form with both bat and ball with a superb 63* of 30odd balls and then a cheeky 2 wickets as well earning himself 169 points, and James Raftery completes the top 3 with the stand out performance in the first XI victory with 62 setting up a total of 245 and then picking up a cheeky wicket and of course 107 points.

This leaves the Players table as such. Eric Linge has built on his league from last week to end up on 517 points so far this season. Connor Coppard rampages up the table into second place and a excellent total of 219 points and Sean Mulley has joined the top 3 with 153 points. A close group is following in behind and all gunning for a top 3 spot so as long as this rain disappears pronto then we should be in for another excellent week of weather.

p.s Those whose teams don’t show the correct score, Sue Armstrong, Peter Andre and Dave Ballam, don’t be alarmed it is being corrected. Its just there website administrator is actually slower then me. I know…unbelievable. It will all be corrected shortly though.

In the players competition, there is only one winner this week, and everyone who scrimped and scrapped to get Eric Linge in their team as captain will be relieved as he started the season with 296 points in week 1. Jake Brooks started the season with a very solid knock of 51, unfortunately the Sunday 1s fell just short in their chase but Jake should be commended for his innings which showed maturity beyond his years. Especially when they asked him for ID after the game hehe. Jake picked up 91 points and Craig McLean completes the top 3 with a very solid 55 on debut for the Saturday Dorset 1s and 85 points, long may it continue.

Transfer windows don’t open now until the end of the month so get down the club every Tuesday night and encourage the players in your team to work hard on their games as well as slyly sabotaging those who may ruin your chances of winning. Remember the monthly winner picks up £10 and the season winner £50 so good luck.

We learnt a lot from last season, and we have implemented rule changes to help make it a more difficult competition. This season you will only be allowed 4 changes per transfer window, but you will be allowed unlimited changes up to and including Saturday 4^th May, but this window will close at 12noon on the dot. The remaining transfer windows will be as such.

Window 1 – Tuesday 28^th May (00:00) to Saturday 1^st June (12:00)
Window 2 – Tuesday 25^th June (00:00) to Saturday 29^th June (12:00)
Window 3 – Tuesday 30^th July (00:00) to Saturday 3^rd August (12:00)

The cost of each player involved a long and drawn out process where we watched videos of last years games and tied it in with pie charts of previous performances. We then threw this all out and just used last seasons stats. If you don’t agree with your price, sorry its just a bit of fun, pick yourself you may win :) . Good luck for the season. It only costs £10 to enter, payable to Mike Harvey, your find him behind the bar :) its for a good cause, our club, and is a rather enoyable way to keep count of how the rest of the club are doing. If you want to enter two teams the second team, or any other teams after that, will only cost you £5.

This ECB initative encourages Cricket Clubs up and down the country to dedicate a weekend to improving their facilities by enlisting the help of Club members, supporters and friends to contribute.

Friday 5^th April from 1pm, Saturday 6^th April from 9am and Sunday 7^th April from 9am.

We have plenty to do, inside and out and require as many volunteers as possible to ensure that we are 100% ready for the new season. We will provide refreshments including a hot meal for all those who volunteer.

Please note that we are unable to supervise children and that most jobs will be unsuitable for any Under 14’s, but would welcome the opportunity to meet parents of any Youth players that would like to come along on any of those days and help out. Please bring with you some gloves, sturdy boots and clothing suitable for the weather conditions.

We are looking for a minimum of four hours help per member, but also recognise that some members may not be able to make it and would therefore ask for a £10 donation instead.
